Input design exercise:
Exercise on Input Design Exercise of Hospital Patient Check-In System.
Sunrise Hospital, one of the city’s leading healthcare providers, aims to streamline its patient check-in process. Due to an ever-increasing patient influx and wait times of several minutes for each new check-in process, its administration requires an easy-to-use input system which captures all essential details while minimizing wait times for each person registering at once. Furthermore, an accurate data collection method should reduce manual entry errors.
Specific criteria for an input system include:
Patient Identification: Capture unique patient identifiers like PatientID, Full Name and Date of Birth. Medical History: Fill in fields for allergies, current medications and any preexisting conditions or surgeries the patient may have had in his or her lifetime.
Appointment Details: Date and time of appointment, department/specialist visited, reason for visit. Insurance Information: Provider details, policy number and any necessary co-pay amounts. Emergency Contact Info: Name, relationship to patient and phone number for immediate response.
Sunrise Hospital emphasizes the significance of:
Enhancing the user-friendliness of input systems to accommodate different age groups. Reducing redundant data entry. Implementing validation checks in order to reduce errors.
Your task is to design an efficient input system for Sunrise Hospital’s patient check-in process, taking into account user interface design, data validation procedures and any other elements which improve usability and accuracy.
Instructions:
Sketch or digitally design the user interface layout for an input system. Clearly label all sections and fields; add validation checks (such as verifying phone numbers are valid or setting future appointment dates), when necessary.
Write up a brief explanation of your design choices, with an emphasis on user friendliness, efficiency, and error reduction. Suggest solutions to potential bottlenecks or challenges within this document.
Submit your design along with an explanation to be reviewed for evaluation, making sure it adheres to the scenario’s requirements and showcases an understanding of effective input system design for business processes.
