Deconstruction of an Advanced Dashboard: Identification of

This website is hosted by Tableau Public, and new visualizations are posted daily.
Select one of the visualizations (make sure you don’t repeat a classmate).
Make sure the dashboard that you select can be downloaded as a Tableau Workbook; for help with downloading, see the following steps.
Spend time reviewing every element of the dashboard. Make sure to interact with the elements on the dashboard.
You will be analyzing this dashboard for the next three units.
To download a dashboard:
In the top right corner, click on the Download icon

Select Tableau Workbook. Use the “current” version and download.
Open the downloaded Tableau Workbook in your Tableau.
For this discussion, you will deconstruct the dashboard. When you open it up, you will probably have a tab at the bottom that says “dashboard.” This tab contains multiple sheets.
Click on the icon to the right of the sheet name (see screenshot below as an example).
Discussion Prompts
What is the purpose of the dashboard? Why is this important? What problem are they trying to solve? Who is the audience? (one paragraph)
Why did you select this dashboard? What was interesting or appealing to you about it? (one paragraph)
What types of visualizations are they using in this dashboard? List each one you see. Is there a visualization that you can’t identify? Include anything you don’t understand (one paragraph). Refer to Chapters 1 and 3 in the Milligan book for help.
How did the dashboard creator use filters? Are there filters on the dashboard itself?
Provide a screenshot of the screen you selected and a link to the webpage on the Viz of the Day site.
