Urinary Tract infection in elderly in a nursing home setting

Urinary tract infections affect the elderly more often than they should. This is a problem because UTI’s lead to increased hospitalizations and additional medical complications such as acute kidney injuries and sepsis. Furthermore, the frequent use of antibiotics leads to antibiotic resistant strands of bacteria that emerged in healthcare creating a difficult tsk in treating a recurring diagnosis.
