Your responses should demonstrate a clear engagement and understanding of the course material, critical application of the sociological concepts/theory and should include clear grammar and sentence structure. Given the today’s media presentation of examples of racial violence, one might believe this is a new trend.

How might the increase of available videos and photos of racial violence distort the current understandings of the history of racial violence in America? How has increased access to technology influenced ways we consume information about racial violence?

How does the increased availability of coverage of racial violence influence the modern social construction of race?
How do various legacies of colonialism impact American culture today? In what ways do you see English, French, and Spanish cultural legacies manifest politically, economically, or socially in the United States today?

What examples do you see of the white aesthetic being used today? Is the white aesthetic something unique to the US or can you find examples of this phenomenon globally ? (give at least 2 examples)

What examples of the racist aesthetic do you see in today’s society? How do these help to normalize racial stereotypes and racial hierarchies? (give at least 2 examples)
