Requirements
Next, write a 1.5-2-page reflective essay about your own perceptions of weight bias. Your primary goal is to compare your own perceptions previous to taking this test with your perceptions of weight bias at this point in the semester. Thus, the purpose of this exercise is for you to analyze what you have learned as a result of taking this test on weight bias. Perhaps more importantly, writing this essay should make you more aware of how your attitudes and perceptions about weight can (and should) change – or at least be better informed – as you gain more knowledge and information about them.
1) Your essay must include some sort of introduction and conclusion. In both, you must clearly state your basic theme (or thesis statement), around which your paper will focus.
2) Your paper must be single-spaced, with 10 or 12-point font size. Margins should be no greater than one inch on sides, top, and bottom.
3) Use plenty of examples to illustrate your statements and opinions. These examples could come from primary sources: a) in-class lectures and discussions, and b) your text book and articles. Be sure to cite any information that comes from journal articles.
4) The bulk of the paper should be written in your own words, with occasional, well-placed quotes to exemplify what you are saying.
5) Somehow, be sure to compare your current opinions and sentiments with those prior to taking this course.
6) Your writing must be polished! That means complete sentences, organized thoughts, decent paragraphing, minimal typos and spelling errors, and decent grammar. I suggest that you proof read, and have someone else read your paper to be sure that it makes sense and is well organized and written.
