Discussion Instructions

These instructions apply to your discussion assignments, both your initial post as well as all response posts.

In the first sentence or two, answer the question, state your belief, or give your response. Do so in simple, direct words so the reader knows where you stand without qualification.

In subsequent paragraphs, support your answer or belief by explaining your research, personal experiences, and/or professional observations. These paragraphs must be professional in appearance and content. The content must be concise, direct, and well organized. Use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Write in complete sentences unless you are using a bulleted or numbered list.

Briefly summarize your thoughts in the last paragraph.

You must give credit to all sources cited using MLA 8 format.
Each graded discussion must have at least three website citations in MLA 8 format in a Works Cited at the end of your post(s).
They may be all in one post or spread among your initial and response posts.

You must use at least one parenthetical/in-text citation in MLA 8 format for each citation in your Works Cited in your post(s). There must be no “orphaned” Works Cited citations.
Only one YouTube video citation per discussion assignment is allowed per student.

For example: since three citations are required per discussion assignment, split among your initial and response posts, only one may be a YouTube citation (per student). The other two must be website citations.
Citations of our class textbook are allowed, but do not count as one of the required three citations. You may not merely cite the entire book, you must cite the specific page and paragraph, and include a hyperlinked URL to that page.

Citations of other printed books do count as a required citation, if you can find a website link directly to the page in the book that you are citing. You may not merely cite the entire book, you must cite the specific page and paragraph, and include a hyperlinked URL to that page.
