In these last two units, Robert Kail addresses a plethora of other influences on child growth and development. Until now, we have studied all the developmental domains, theories and theorists, and a lot of research tied to these developmental areas. Now, we will look at the major effects, socializing agents, and conditions that impact children’s growth and development. There are quite a few you will read about in chapters 14 and 15.
Instructions: 1.) Read chapters 14 and 15, review the highlights, and see the short video provided (6:11 minutes). Think about the many influences on child growth and development — family, maltreatment or child abuse, child care, TV/mass media, peer group, play, etc., etc. 2.) Pick any 3 topics from these chapters and type an argumentative essay that incorporates information/concepts we study in our textbook. You should have at least one topic from each chapter. For your 3rd topic, you get to select either chapter! Your essay should be at least 1-2 pages in length with at least three main paragraphs. Use MLA style and a proper essay format. Fully cite your source(s) giving the chapter, module, and page number along with the version or edition of the textbook that you use, timestamps from videos, etc.
